Kai Jia Lights Up Indoor and Outdoor Spaces

Zhong Shan Kaijia Lighting Co., Ltd., founded in 1976 in Taiwan and transplanted to mainland China in 1990, specializes in ceiling lamps, outdoor lanterns, metal chandeliers, poly-resin lights, wall lamps and street lamps.

The company cranks out its products in facilities standing on a 777,000-square-feet neat factory campus at Nan Lang Town in Zhong City, Guangdong Province. On the campus the company has a poly-resin, a metal-tube bending, and a painting division each. An automated paint-coating line costing an equivalent of NT$50 million (US$1.5 million at US$1:NT$33) has helped the company to trim labor costs largely. Over there, some 300 employees engage in various professional work including mold building and doing final processing.

The company has been in poly-resin processing for over 15 years, boasting an excellent capability in this field. Its painting processing meets ISO14000 standard and its electroplating uses the RoHS-compliant hexavalent chromium substance. ISO9002 is its another ISO certification.

Kai Jia has spent around an equivalent of NT$5 million (US$151,000) computerizing its management system, including installation of enterprise resource planning (ERP). Its management quality is also found in its employee dormitory, which is now touted as a role model of all manufacturers' in Zhongshan City for its good hygiene and order.

The company is also ecological enough for it runs a waste-recycle facility, which processes waste generated during manufacturing into reusable materials.

Europe is the company's major export destination, with Russia and the Middle East playing minor roles. The company has contracted dealers in Sweden, Norway and Greece. The company's products are mostly on OEM/ODM basis. (KL)
