Bella Vita Ups Ante in High-end Retailing Competition in Taipei

2009/09/24 | By Judy Li

Taipei, Sept. 24, 2009 (CENS)-The recent opening of Bella Vita, or Beautiful Life in Italian, shopping mall, adjacent the Taipei 101, in Taipei's Hsinyi district will further heat up top-end retailing in the area, where many foreign-branded boutiques are located.

The newly opened boutique mall occupies 6,316 pings (1 ping = 36 square meters) and houses various global luxury brands as Bulgari, Hermes, Tod's etc., with Hermes finally deciding to open Taiwan's largest flagship store there.

S. H. Leung, chairwoman of Bella Vita, disclosed that her dream has been realized after five years-finally opening an Euro-style mall in Taiwan, with her husband C.C. Leung, vice chairman and president of Quanta Computer Inc., being the major financier of the project.

Leung reportedly invested some NT$9 billion (US$272.73 million at US$1 = NT$33) in the mall, and says that Bella Vita, or beautiful life in Italian, is not elitist but offers ordinary shoppers an opportunity to experience its eponymous lifestyle.

With more than 150 international brands located in the Taipei 101, the management is confident that Bella Vita would not be a real threat, but, just the opposite, serve as a magnet to attract even more customers to the area.
