Vision Leads in Innovative Automotive Active Safety Systems

2009/10/06 | By Quincy Liang | VISION AUTOMOBILE ELECTRONICS INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD.

With a strong R&D team consisting of 30 talented and experienced professionals, or 25% to 30% of its total work force, the Vision Automobile Electronics Industrial Co. is a leading Taiwanese developer and manufacturer of automotive electronics. The company is TS16949- and TSO9001:2000-certified, and is globally known for the high-quality, advanced products that it supplies to automakers and aftermarket dealers all over the world.

Vision was established in 1984, and for many years it has been a major force for upgrading in the local automotive-electronics industry by constantly developing products that lead market trends and establish the highest standards of quality and reliability in the business.

With rapid but stable business advancement, Vision currently offers a wide array of products in three major categories: automotive security systems, related parts and accessories, and active safety products.

In recent years Vision has cooperated closely with top automotive-related industrial technology research institutes such as the Automotive Research & Testing Center (ARTC), Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (CSIST), and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in joint development projects aimed at world-leading automotive technologies and system products that can be commercialized at an affordable level of cost.

Technical partnerships, however, are only part of Vision's integrated global competitive strength. The company's R&D team, which can smoothly transform most advanced systems and basic prototypes into commercialization-ready products, and its leader-of-the-pack manufacturing capability, achieved on two surface-mounted device (SMD) production lines with five sets of top-end equipment, also plays a vital role in making Vision's high-quality products popular among customers worldwide.

Vision is proud of its newly established automotive active safety system/product division, which plays a leading role in promoting the most advanced active-safety automotive-electronics systems to enhance driver safety.

One example of competence is the firm's wireless tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) products, which incorporate the world's best TPMS sensors from the U.K.-based Schrader Electronics. According to Vision, Schrader sensors are the world's lightest, most precise, and most durable, offering battery life and system durability unmatched by rival products. Schrader's experience with Vision has convinced it to appoint the Taiwan company as one of its key agents in Asia.

A more outstanding Vision achievement is the local leadership in introducing a commercialized Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), which can assist drivers to monitor road conditions using a special camera that reports road conditions ahead. If a driver feels exhausted and has a hard time concentrating on driving, Vision's LDWS will remind him or her of the abnormal driving conditions, and prevent an accident, via a warning sound and/or light.

Vision claims that its LDWS, which is supplied for both passenger and commercial vehicles, has been intensively tested on an unlimited-speed highway and proven to be very stable, precise, and reliable.

Another advanced product from the innovative manufacturer is a parking guide system (PGS), which can assist drivers with parallel parking and back-in parking. Parking lines, which are adjustable according to the size of the vehicle, are shown on the vehicle's monitor using its own camera.

The company also supplies an optional "bird's-eye view" function for the PGS, which gives the driver a full view of the vehicle's rear section on the monitor.

Over the years, Vision has established itself as a widely respected brand. The firm is an original equipment (OE) parts supplier to many top car brands, including Ford, Honda, Suzuki, Toyota, Nissan, and Mazda. It has overseas plants in Australia, Thailand, and Malaysia, and operates a comprehensive aftermarket distribution network that covers the world.
