To be held Oct. 27-30, 2009, the HK lighting event, the largest in Asia and second- largest globally, will host over 1,600 exhibitors from 33 countries who will display commercial lighting, green lighting, household lighting, LED lighting, outdoor lighting and more. Last year, the autumn show attracted 1,572 exhibitors.

The 2009 fair is mainly divided into several themed zones: LED lighting, green lighting, household lighting, commercial lighting, outdoor lighting, lighting accessories, parts & components, as well as lighting management, design & technology.

New for 2009 is the Hall of Aurora, where the focus is on suppliers that are building brand awareness by creating differentiated products with an emphasis on innovation, quality and style, including makers as Philips, Osram, Megaman, Neo-Neon, Citizen and CREE.

Forums and Seminars

Several forums and seminars will focus on new lighting technologies and global market trends, which will concentrate on green lighting as nations become increasingly aware of global warming to continue reducing using incandescent lights. Two events, "Green Lighting Technology - CCFL" (October 27) and "LED Lighting - Applications and Opportunities" (October 29) enable exhibitors, professional buyers and international media to communicate and exchange notes.

Experts from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors Asia will share insights into solid-state lighting and current lighting market trends. Tino Kwan, during "Meet the International Interior Lighting Design Master Tino Kwan" will share thoughts on interior lighting design, introduce global trends in interior lighting design, and analyze the impact of the global downturn on the lighting industry.

Lighting Competition

The 3rd Hong Kong Lighting Design Competition will also be held to showcase the finalist entries in the student and open groups-themed "Eco-Glow"-whose creations will be displayed during the event.

LED Lighting Zone

Echoing further developments in LED technology-an increasingly popular choice for indoor and handheld applications-the LED Lighting zone will feature suppliers specializing in new-design, durable, energy-efficient, and color variety in LEDs, all of which aim to meet the growing demand for green lighting. Spread over 9,000 square meters, the LED Lighting zone has over 380 LED companies from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Belize, South Korea, Thailand, the United States, New Zealand, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.

China Economic News Service (CENS), the publisher of the CENS Lighting magazine, remains the exclusive, HKTDC-authorized agent in Taiwan to organize exhibitors to attend the show.
