Four-day event aims to build on succes

2010/04/02 | By Ken Liu

The 2010 Spring Edition of the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair will kick off on Apr. 13 for a four-day run at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, hoping to build on the success of its debut last year.

The products on show this year will be sorted by category: commercial lighting, green lighting, household lighting, LED lighting, outdoor lighting, lighting accessories/parts/components, lighting management/design/technology, and trade service/publication. The themed zones make for efficient sourcing; the LED lighting and green lighting zones are new this year.

The Spring Edition will be co-located with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) and HKTDC International ICT Expo, offering visitors to the lighting fair plenty of crossover opportunities in these two fairs and incentives to explore new directions.

A total of 235 exhibitors from mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United States attended the inaugural fair last year, representing a broad range of sectors from industrial and commercial lighting to home décor.

The fair is an “enlightening” experience, serving as a platform for information exchange with seminars addressing technological developments and market intelligence, as well as networking opportunities.

Reduced energy consumption and long durability are putting the spotlight on LED lighting in markets around the globe, and the spring lighting fair will highlight this growing sector. The LED lighting zone will feature top-quality exhibitors showcasing a wide range of innovative LED lighting for a variety of applications, including indoor, outdoor, and handheld lighting.

Badis Mazouni, purchasing manager of the French trading company Numeric, was present at the lighting fair last year and expressed his delight with it: “Numeric is an importer and wholesaler of electronic products; but we are now trying to get into the lighting market, which is why we have come to this fair. I've seen some interesting products, such as CFL, LED, down lights, and spotlights, so this trip has been very helpful. The organization of the fair is good — but then it always is at HKTDC fairs!” (KL)
