GYSUN Opto-Electronic Co., Ltd., a light emitting diode (LED) lighting startup set up in 2004 and engaged in trial production in the incubator center of the Guokai Digital Media Industrial Park in Nanhai, Guangdong Province, has introduced a slew of patented designs, achieved by around 20 well-trained engineers with average 10 years of experience in the industry.

One of the company's patented products is a sub-10W, 500-lumen, dimmable E27 bulb, whose unique lens design has a diffusion angle wider than 180 degrees. The bulb is CE and UL approved, making the company China's first UL-certified LED-lighting manufacturer.

This maker also has a patented thermal-dissipation design that uses air to isolate heat produced, effectively keeping ambient temperature on a typical lamp within 70 C. Another one is a nano-grade packaging material that claims thermal conductivity at a staggering 300 W/m.K.

These thermal-dissipation technologies allow LED lighting to generate less than 1C per watt and confine ambient temperature to within 80-82 C in five consecutive 72-hour field tests at 32 C in an enclosed IP68 compartment.

Financed by venture capital funds and the Nanhai District Government of the Guangdong Province, the maker receives technological help from the Sun Yat-sen University, a prestigious school in China, as well as cooperating with LED players Citizen, Sharp and Cree and power-device supplier LightTech of the United States.

Examples of high-profile projects the maker has completed include LED billboards for Coca Cola and Nokia in Europe.

The company's products include light bulbs, T8 tubes, PA38 spotlights, track lights and panel lights rated from 1 to 30 watts as well as 100W high-bay lights. (KL)
