Backed by an in-house packaging factory, Shenzhen Hipower Optoelectronic Co., Ltd. supplies approximately 2,000 LED lights rated one to 100W for indoor and outdoor applications.

The company's packaging factory supplies DIP and SMD packages using chip-on-board technology. Former engineers from Everlight, Taiwan's No.1 LED packager, were recruited to help the company set up packaging lines, which adopt chips mainly from Epistar Corp. and Huga Optotech Inc. in Taiwan. This maker also works with LED players Nichia, Cree, Sharp and Citizen.

Besides having an R&D team of over 20 engineers adept in circuitry, thermal-dissipation, mechanical-structure and lens design, the maker puts each new product through required tests for EMI/EMC, color bin accuracy and light decay. The lights deliver average of 80-plus CRI.

Aware of the importance of intellectual property, the company never uses common molds in production for OEM or ODM contracts to stringently protect customers' product designs.

Producing 600,000 LED lights of various types a month with 800 workers, the company exports most of the output to Europe, with items being CE, TUV, GS and UL certified, guaranteed for 30,000 hours of lifespan, and delivered with three years after-sale service.

Developing the European market via its German branch, the company has also sold products to mass retailers OBI, B&Q and Carrefour. (KL)
