Average Monthly Pay of Taiwan's Employees Hits Record High of NT$44,430 in 2010
2011/03/02 | By Judy LiTaipei, March, 2011 (CENS)--The average monthly pay of Taiwan's employees stood at NT$44,430 (US$1,433.230), up 5.34% from the corresponding figure of a year earlier, the highest growth of its kind in 16 years, according to the statistics released by the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS).
Among various industries, the finance and insurance sector saw the average monthly pay of employees record the highest annual growth of 9.11% to reach NT$73,663 (US$2,376.23). The manufacturing industry came second with average monthly pay rising 8.35% to NT$42,420 (US$1,368.39), with the basic metal manufacturing sector posting the highest growth of 18.17%. Nevertheless, electric power and fuel suppliers offered the highest average monthly pay of NT$96,143 (US$3,101.39) to their employees.
In the same year, the substantive regular monthly pay, after deducting the commodity price hike, hit an 11-year low of NT$42,122 (US$1,358.77).
In January of this year, the jobless rate declined further to 4.64%, down by 1.04 percentage points from a year earlier; and the employed population increased by 7,000 persons from the previous month.
It is believed that the better economic climate may bring greater profits to enterprises, and their employees are very likely to enjoy higher pay this year as a result.
