Enterprises in Central Taiwan Science Park to Recruit Over 5,200 Workers
2011/07/21 | By Steve ChuangTaipei, July 21, 2011 (CENS)--Officials of the Central Taiwan Science Park (CTSP) Administration and Central Region Office of the Council of Labor Affairs will jointly hold a recruiting event on July 23, with a total of 34 participating enterprises in the park to offer 5,200 job opportunities.
The 34 enterprises include such heavyweights as AU Optronics Corp. (AUO), Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TSMC), AUO Crystal Corp., ProMOS Technologies Inc., Rexchip Electronics Inc., Gallant Precision Machining Co., NexPower Technology Corp., Genius Electronic Optical Co., Huga Optotech Inc., Winbond Electronics Corp., Hota Industrial Manufacturing Co., etc.
Director General Yang Wen-ke of CTSP Administration said that with new factories located in the park, including AUO's 8.5-generation panel fabrication plant and TSMC's Fab 15, to become operational, the park's total employment is expected to exceed 30,000 people this year, which will surely serve as a growth drive for the local economy in the future.
In the first half of this year, the park's total workforce grew by 26% to over 24,000 people from 19,000 recorded at the end of last year mainly on the recovery of Taiwan's high-tech and machinery industries. Hopefully, the aforementioned recruiting event will help to bring the number to 30,000 in the second half of the year.
Jobs offered by high-tech companies are likely to make up the majority of the total available at the event. For instance, AUO and its affiliate AUO Crystal plan to solicit a total of 1,230 new workers via the event, while TSMC also demands at least 150 semiconductor manufacturing process and equipment engineers.
The prosperity of the machinery industry has also driven demand for labor among insiders operating in the park, including Hota Indusrial, Goodway Machine Corp. and Awea Mechantronic Co., who will recruit over 200 new employees at the event.
