All 130 Ferraris and Maseratis in Taiwan Sold Out: Local Dealer

2011/07/29 | By Quincy Liang

Taipei, July 29, 2011 (CENS)--All 130 Ferraris and Maseratis allowed in the quota for Taiwan in 2011 have been sold, making the island the third-largest market in Asia (excluding China) for top-end Ferraris following Japan and Hong Kong, according to local dealer Modena Motori Taiwan Co. Ltd.

The recovering domestic economy and consumer buying sentiment for high-end sport cars are attracting most makers of to-end cars to set up dealers in Taiwan. Royce Rolls just established a flagship dealer in Taipei recently.

Modena Motori said that the 60 Ferraris and 70 Maseratis allowed by quota into Taiwan were mostly sold before shipment, motivating both brands to promise to raise supplies 2012, according to the local dealer.

Modena Motori unveiled the new Maserati Gran Turisomo MC Stradale in Taiwan recently, the first under the Italian brand to exceed 330 kilometer per hour (kph). Some 200 VIPs were invited to the launch, including many local entrepreneurs and car fans.

This new Maserati is priced NT$8.48 million (US$292,414) in Taiwan, and all the 10 cars under quota this year have been ordered.

To take on the other super-luxury brands, Modena Motori will open a new dealer and service point in southern Taiwan's Kaohsiung, being optimistic towards sales of top-end sport cars in Taiwan over the next few years.
