ALT Adds Solar LED Lights to Revenue Earners

2012/03/08 | By Ken Liu

Taipei, Feb. 3, 2012 (CENS)--Aeon Lighting Technology Inc. (ALT), a leading manufacturer of high-power LED lamps in Taiwan, has recently entered into alliance with solar-panel makers in anticipation of bright outlook of solar-powered LED streetlights and landscape lights.

The company, which is a subsidiary of server maker SuperMicro Computer Inc., projects considerable orders for solar-powered lamps to drive up its revenue for 2012.

According to the company's chief executive officer (CEO), James Liang, although solar-powered LED lamps remain niche products, the market promises strong growth potential. He estimated the operation to contribute 10% of its revenue this year.

While creating additional revenue income, the company estimated subcontract service and branding operation would remain its primary revenue earners, expecting them to account for a combined 25% or so of its revenue for this year. Liang estimated reductions of LED prices over last months would fuel demands for its subcontract service and branded lamps.

Fearing that demand surges would inundate all of its running production lines and considering cost efficiency, the company has recently spent US$3.5 million to add five brand new production lines at its factory in Bade City, Taoyuan County, northern Taiwan.

The lines are scheduled to start commercial production in the third quarter this year, bringing the company an estimated annual revenue of US$30-35 million.

Currently, the company's typical contract products include light bulbs and big lighting fixtures and its own brand products include MR16, streetlights and big lighting fixtures.
