Taipei, April 10, 2012 (CENS)--Chang Hong Energy Technology Co., Ltd. of Taiwan, a maker of lithium iron phosphorous oxide (LFPO) batteries, recently announced it has tied up with local Hongyu Energy Science Co. to launch a pure-electric car, with top speed of 120 km per hour (Kph) and cruise range of about 100 kms.

Chang Hong chairman Chen Ming-te claimed that his company self-developed the electrical-machinery control unit and high-efficiency battery management system (BMS), which are perfectly integrated with a 50 hp motor and two independent battery packs.

In addition to the new BEV, Chen claimed that his company aims to become a major producer of LFPO batteries globally.

Since late 2010, Chang Hong has been leasing a battery factory in the Central Taiwan Science Park (CTSP) from Changes Ascending Enterprise Co., Ltd. to produce LFPO power cells, aiming to gradually achieve a monthly capacity of 500,000 ampere-hour (Ah) or about 10,000 power cells.

The company is also constructing a new factory in the Houli Base of CTSP, with the five-hectare facility scheduled for completion and mass production by the second quarter of 2013. Chang Hong said that it will add a new production line per year, each of which with monthly capacity of about 8 million Ah. By 2016, Chang Hong will have four production lines with monthly capacity of 32.5 million Ah, making it the largest LFPO power-cell maker globally.
