Innovative Product Award Winners Highlighted as Eye-catching Masterpieces at TILS 2012

Judges' Special Award added this year for special recognition

With the Taiwan International Lighting Show (TILS) being held the third time this year as was the annual Innovative Product Award competition, the organizers, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taiwan Lighting Fixture Manufacturers' Association (TLFMA), said that the competition has received wide industry recognition since inception.

Some 88 products were submitted by 51 companies, from which industry experts and academia chose three winners for the “Innovative Product Award” and the “Judges' Special Award” for this year, with the winners of the former category being the “Traveler LED Desk Lamp” of Crosscarf Home Appliances, “Nature–Adjustable HV LED Bulb” of Just Energy Technology Corporation, and the “Highly-efficient LED Streetlamp” of Everlight Electronics Corp., and that for the Judges' Special Award being the “Energy-saving 20W LED Bulb” from Top Energy Saving System Corp.

All the winners were displayed in the Innovative Product Zone of the TILS, held March 13-16, 2012, which TAITRA lauded as masterpieces of innovation, combining design, energy-saving, and modern technology to catch people's eye.

“They represent the wisdom of Taiwan's lighting manufacturers, and have great market potential,” said Vice Economic Minister Liang Kuo-hsing as he presented awards to the winners.

Traveler LED Desk Lamp──Crosscarf Home Appliances

A newly established company designing and producing home electronics under its own brand “Crosscarf™,” Crosscarf aims to combine Taiwan's traditional crafts and modern technologies to develop home electronic products to attract the current generation of consumers.

Besides designing better products and functions to enhance consumers' lifestyle, the company has a noble mission: use its products to bring warmth to people with hectic lives, hence the scarf as the corporate logo. Perhaps a tad too sublime to be at once obvious, the scarf logo supposedly symbolizes passion for design and the maker's attempt to bring warmth and hope to consumers' life.

The “Traveler LED Desk Lamp” is a double-function item that doubles as a reading and mood lamp, with the reading mode offering bright, comfortable lighting at about 1000 lux, which is brighter than the national standard for reading lighting of 500-700 lux. Its LED bulb has focused illumination to minimize disturbing scatter light, being ideal for use on bedside table, next to sofa, or on desks. Using less than 10W, the lamp is entirely designed and made in Taiwan.

In the mood mode, the lamp emits a homely, warm glow to be also a beautiful decoration, also using a smidgeon of electricity, with the electronic control panel enabling easy adjustment to suit different situations. The company emphasized that the lamp uses RAG™ aluminium anti-glare reflective plate to achieve more even, softer illumination to maximize eye comfort; while the streamlined design minimizes footprint and is suitable for various environments.

This lamp directs heat to the fixture base for effective cooling, able to keep the bulb surface temperature lower than 40 Celsius to simultaneously achieve safety and reliability. Moreover, the lamp has a Japanese Seiko movement for the timer.

Nature Adjustable HV LED Bulb—Just Energy Technology Corp.
The core design of the Nature Adjustable HV LED Bulb is to combine advanced T-Tech high voltage LED driving technology with classic appearance, also achieving the advantage of not needing transformers to change voltage and ICs to save more energy, as much as 90% more energy than incandescent bulbs and 60% more than energy-saving bulbs.

Its unique design cools from the bulb's center to avoid burning hands and does not need a radiator, achieving a well-rounded exterior and 360-degree illumination.

A winner of many national and international prizes and recognitions, this LED bulb includes in its resume Germany's iF Award, China's Gold Award, Germany's Red Dot Award, the US' IDEA Bronze Award, Taiwan Excellence Award, Taiwan's Gold Dot Award, as well as the TILS Innovative Product Award for this year.

Highly-efficient LED Streetlamp—Everlight Electronics Corp.
Everlight Electronics Corp. makes a series of LED streetlamps which continuously win awards at home or abroad, such as the iF design award, EDN light module award, PIDA Photoelectric Product Award and Taiwan Excellence Award. The unique low colour temperature technology applied to the LED streetlamp enables the product's winning the TILS Innovative Product Award for this year.

Applying such low colour temperature technology to the streetlamp this year, Everlight achieved the world's highest lm/w performance, as well as having passed Taiwan's strict CNS15233 test and become the first LED streetlamp to obtain Taiwan's energy saving accreditation, and China's CQC low color temperature streetlamp energy-saving standards.

In LED lighting technology, the threshold for low colour temperature or yellow light is higher than for white colour, a spectrum that is hard to achieve to maintain high power. But Everlight's R&D department has overcome such challenges to introduce the new streetlamps with the low colour temperature range, with the technology able to be used to make 90W, 120W and 150W LED bulbs. Everlight's low colour temperature streetlamp lighting has better colour rendering and two major advantages of improving road safety and providing energy-saving lighting.

Energy-saving 20W Bulb—Top Energy Saving System (TESS)
This Energy-saving 20W Bulb is similarly sized as a typical incandescent bulb, with 100 lm/w or higher than 8lm/W of a traditional bulb, and far better than incandescent bulbs. Besides, it is U-shaped and with fixture of mainly PC to be impact resistance, as well as being non-toxic. The maker says it's a revolutionary product.

Known for being eco-sensitive, the maker is ranked the seventh best company in Taiwan and 20th in Asia in the Deloitte Technology Fast500 Asia Pacific 2012.
