Auto-lamp Maker Ta Yih Eyes Promising Results in Q4

2012/11/27 | By Quincy Liang

Taipei, Nov. 27, 2012 (CENS)--Ta Yih Industrial Co., the largest original equipment (OE) auto-lamp supplier in Taiwan, recently claimed to have begun exporting auto-lamp molds and dies to overseas factories of major Japanese auto-lamp supplier Koito.

Koito is also a major technical partner to and shareholder in Ta Yih. To cope with sharp appreciation of Japan yen that raises costs, Koito decided to accelerate overseas outsourcing and let Ta Yih supply molds and dies for production at Koito's auto-lamp factories in China, Thailand, Indonesia and South Africa.

In the fourth quarter, Ta Yih said, mold and die exports would account for record high of about 15% of revenue. In 2013, Koito is expected to further increase overseas mold/die outsourcing to Ta Yih, whose revenue from the business is expected to enjoy two-digit growth in the same year.

In addition, Ta Yih is benefitting from strong demand for LED auto lamps, as the company is the only qualified OE auto-lamp supplier to produce LED headlamps, being very confident in achieving high revenue growth in LED lamps in 2013.

The major auto-lamp supplier is also expanding exports. According to Ta Yih, it won a big-ticket OE order from American automaker Chrysler for lamps on a new model, with annual order volume being 200,000 sets.

Thanks to the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) signed between Taiwan and China to lower tariffs on bilateral auto-parts trade, Ta Yih has won auto-lamp orders from Chinese automakers Dongfeng Yulon Motor Co., Ltd. and GAIG-Fiat this year.

Ta Yih supplies auto lamps to almost all carmakers in Taiwan, and Japanese brands such as Toyota, Nissan, Suzuki, Mazda etc. on OE basis.
