Lilliputian CSP LED With Excellent Thermal Dissipation

2014/11/19 | By Ken Liu

ProLight Opto Technology Corp. promoted a Lilluputian-sized high-power LED boasting efficient thermal dissipation at the show.

The 1.4mm x 1.4mm LED, completed with the chip scale packaging (CSP) method, can generate at least 250 lumens with a drive current of1.0A and dissipate heat at an excellent 160W/mK partly thanks to an unorthodox eutectic formula.

Other smart products for lighting fixtures that the veteran company displayed included alternating current (AC) LEDs, high-voltage (HV) LEDs, COB LEDs, driver on board (DOB) LEDs, high-power flash LEDs, light engines, surface mount device (SMD) LEDs, and surface mount technology (SMT) LEDs.

Some of the exhibited items incorporated unusual technologies. The DOB device, for instance, is crammed with not just an LED chip but also a driver circuit, saving lighting-fixture makers the trouble of sourcing external drivers--usually large in size--for their products.  (KL)
