Jun-En Enterprise Corp.'s Global Reputation Comes from Making the Best

2018/12/05 | By CENS | JUN-EN ENTERPRISE CORP.

As a professional manufacturer of metal mesh and machinery located in Southern Taiwan, Jun-En Enterprise Corp. celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. Despite having a lower profile than most, Jun-En is one of the major global players in the metal mesh and machinery industry, boasting huge amount of machinery exports to all corners of the world every year. Jun-En's machineries can be seen on all five continents, with long-time loyal clients located even in the U.S. and Australia.

With humble beginnings as a trade company, Jun-En eventually found its way into the metal mesh industry around 30 years ago. At that time, each industry in Taiwan was undergoing remarkable leaps and bounds and the metal mesh industry in Kaohsiung was no exception. Jun-En's Chairman Yang Hsi-ju pointed out that the firm originally dabbled in different products before focusing on metal mesh, which led to them procuring the necessary equipment for mass production.

Being able to manage, monitor their own stock quality, delivery production and pricing strategy was one of the reasons behind Jun-En's transition from a trade company to a manufacturing company, allowing them to offer the best quality services and products to their clients.

Seeking Quality Through Own Products

Within a few years of their transition, Jun-En's saw an increase in production volume and orders. At the same time, they quickly realized that their existing manufacturing set up was inadequate in face of orders that require high-quality and high-efficiency. With their existing equipment, however, the firm found that even with improvements made, production efficiency was still at a standstill.

Seeing how so many European brands were able to produce their own high-end machineries, yet with high pricing, this allowed Yang to consider developing their own products. “If the Europeans could do it, why not the Taiwanese?” was Yang's mindset, which led them to make the leap from OEM to upstream supplier of high-end machineries. Looking back on that process, Yang said their company's brand positioning then was very clear: to offer and develop machineries with quality on par with its European counterparts. This wasn't easily done; much investment was done, from time-consuming R&D and procuring German technology, with the aim of not overlooking even the smallest of details. “We should not begin because we're the best; we should begin to become the best.” This was Yang's mindset that emboldened Jun-En from its beginnings to its present reputation.

General Manger Chiu Hsin-yi, who arrived at Jun-En after his military discharge and stayed on since then, said at the time, no one believed the firm could go head-to-head against global big brands. However, Yang was persistent.

The firm, buoyed and encouraged by Yang's words, went on to strive to meet clients' demands on every level.

Eyes on the Details to Make A Top Brand

From the smallest parts to addressing each detail as a small win for them, as well as having experience in the metal mesh industry, Jun-En can touch base the user experience and offer the best and most suitable products to meet client needs. Chiu believes that the best product will market itself; Jun-En's equipment has thus attracted the attention of metal mesh industry players in Japan.

Chiu said that their team is very meticulous and has received help from many, including God. He said the Japanese firm approached Jun-En was due to how their own firm was able to deliver three times more than the Japanese firm's equipment. The Japanese firm could not believe that a Taiwanese firm had such a machine and had sent employees down to Jun-En for verification; only then when the Japanese firm sent its top executives did they believe Jun-En's prowess. Chiu said when they received their first machinery order, his daughter had just been born, and now that she is in college, Jun-En continues to take in orders as usual.

Continuing to face challenges and overcoming them has become a common occurrence for Jun-En. As they ship to all corners of the globe, Jun-En embraces the opportunity when client throws a hardball with strict demands, as they believe it is the best chance for self-improvement. Chiu confidently says that those clients who have worked with Jun-En for a long-time become best of friends with them.

Integrity is what keeps a business going; the manager's wife calls this “forever grace,” which is what “Jun-En” is, a word play of “jun,” meaning “forever,” and “en,” meaning “grace” in Mandarin. In the past 30 years, Jun-En's scope and reach has extended globally and into different industries. Aside from hosting its own metal mesh production company in China, they have worked closely with Japanese firm Nippon Filcon over a decade ago through setting up a metal mesh factory. Also, Jun-En is also successful in the heat-treatment furnace industry, having opened a company in China. Last year, Jun-En has also opened a coil nail factory for construction industry use in Indonesia. For more information, please call (07) 373-7800 or contact them via www.junen.com.tw
