Be Part of a Child's Future by Investing in Ergonomic Desks and Chairs

The COVID-19 pandemic has rekindled investment and focus on suitable working spaces at home in times of quarantines and lockdowns. As students have no other choice but to return home, many families have found that existing home spaces often do not have the necessary desks or chairs to provide better learning environments for their children. News reports see students studying from their bed, attending online classes at the dining table. Students of all ages would also benefit from a specialized learning space to improve their studying.

For instance, studying at a standing desk was found to improve concentration levels among students. A news report in 2017 cites previous research that standing up can equal stress, as it is harder to do than sitting down while studying. The research quotes mild doses of stress can help improve cognitive performance.

Earlier reports indicate that, like office workers, students who sit down for longer periods often face other challenges like obesity or attention disorders. Standing up helps combat that. According to a study conducted by the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at Texas A&M University, continued use of standing desks was found to correlate improvements in focus and memory in high school students.

Regardless, comfortable chairs are still important. Ergonomic chairs can help improve posture, induce concentration, and prevent back pain from prolonged periods huddled over a textbook. Many students report feeling a lack of motivation when studying at home. In many instances of remote learning, students were cited to find even the act of sitting down in a chair and propping learning supplies on a desk can help them feel like they are back in in-person classrooms.
