First EV bus total solution exported to Japan this week from RAC

RAC Electric Vehicles cooperated with Japan's Sumitomo Corporation to develop, design, and assemble electric buses that comply with Japanese regulations, officially exported to Japan this week. These electric buses will undergo demonstration runs in Japan.

RAC Electric Vehicles representative said this project was especially noteworthy, as it is considered the first MIT electric commercial vehicle solution. The company is also the only electric bus manufacturer that has passed self-development and design certifications in Taiwan. This project operated in collaboration with Japan JR West has RAC providing technical authorization and key components, and the latter assembling the electric buses, making them compliant with Japanese regulations.

RAC Electric Vehicle Chairman Tsai Yu-chin said the electric bus' technical specifications and range are on par with global standards while maintaining a competitive price tag, and has acquired and passed necessary inspections and testing from the Automotive Research & Testing Center.

Tsai emphasized that similar to trends worldwide, the Japanese government has proposed the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. As such, the demonstration operation of this electric bus, in addition to verifying various issues in drivability, environmental impact and operation, aims to reduce the operating cost of Japanese buses and promote high efficiency. The popularization of high-performance, low-cost electric buses are intended to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions, Tsai said.

RAC officially signed a sales contract for a total of 85 demonstration electric low-floor large passenger cars with Capital Passenger Transport, Taichung Motor Transport, and Taipei Motor Transport Notary Public. In addition to this year, the group projected to complete orders for 105 electric buses for the domestic demonstration project and has handed over 8 electric buses Sanchong Passenger Transport for instance.
