Taiwan's Fastener Industry Moves Toward Smart Manufacturing and Global Expansion
2025/07/31 | By CENSAmid global supply chain restructuring, the implementation of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and rapid advancements in manufacturing technologies, Taiwan’s fastener industry is at a critical juncture of transformation and upgrading.
At the Fastener Industry Trend Seminar organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade and TAITRA, industry experts from the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) highlighted that smart manufacturing, low-carbon production, and innovative materials are set to become the industry's key growth drivers. They emphasized the role of MEMS sensing technologies, digitalized processes, automation, and precision forming technologies in strengthening Taiwan’s manufacturing resilience and global competitiveness.
Two major international exhibitions will further accelerate the industry's integration and global outreach:
2025 Tainan International Fastener Industry Show (August 14–17, Greater Tainan Convention and Exhibition Center): Featuring 250 booths, this show covers the entire fastener supply chain. Organized by the Tainan City Government, it provides one-stop services for technical matchmaking, industry-academia collaboration, and connections with international buyers.
2026 Fastener Taiwan (April 22–24, Kaohsiung Exhibition Center): Centered on the theme “Sustainable Fasteners, Smart Actions,” the show will focus on smart manufacturing and low-carbon transformation, showcasing Taiwan’s determination to lead the fastener industry toward sustainable development.
With Tainan as its stronghold, Taiwan’s fastener industry benefits from a well-established cluster that includes precision metal processing, mold development, and related sectors, extending to electronics, chemicals, and automotive components. Supported by the “Southern Taiwan Development” initiative, the industry is advancing toward high-value manufacturing while leveraging trade shows as a springboard to tap into global procurement opportunities.
