Shih Yu-sung set up Taiwan’s Flushking International Corp. A little over 10 years ago with the aim of becoming
one of the world’s leading makers of manual toilet flushers. His efforts since then have paid off, and he took another
major step toward his goal this year by setting up a modern new plant that greatly expands the company’s production
capacity.

“I founded Flushking with a strong ambition and a strategy that was totally opposite that of the big international
bathroom-equipment brands, which usually wanted to gain market share by becoming one-stop suppliers, “explains
the young and energetic Shih, who remains president of the company. “Before setting up the company, I first gained
experience and know-how in the bathroom-hardware line with a company run by my relatives, which produces and
trades in all kinds of bathroom items. I then decided to set up my own operation with the flusher as our sole product.”

The president notes that Taiwan has many competing producers of sanitary hardware, but that few of them have
successfully found niches. Flushking success, he explains, has come in three steps: the acquisition of
experience and know-how in development and manufacturing, the pinpointing of a niche market, and a focus on a
single product category so as to become stronger while become more specialized.

As the company has grown over the past decade, its sales have expanded to numerous countries in five continents.
Its product line has frown too, thanks to constant R&D investment, and orders have come in for increasingly large
amounts from major international chains tore brands and large importers.

Determination to Supply Quality
The new ISO9001-approved factory in Taichung, central Taiwan, is expected to help make the company a key
supplier in its line the near future. It boasts an in-house R&D shop and most advanced testing facility of its kind.
with top-level inspection and testing equipment imported from Germany. “All of this, “Shih insists, “represents our
determination to be a supplier of the highest-quality flushers.”

Shih hopes to become the No. one maker of flushers in Asia over the next few years. In this effort, it will concentrate
both on its own “HUI HUNG” brand and on original equipment manufacturing (OEM) production.

“Professionalism,” Shih states, “is always our top priority. We currently develop and manufacture flushers only
to American and European specifications, so that we can focus on these two markets.
