Milan, 22 February 2011. The success of Eicma 2010 is borne out by its figures: 512,358 visitors, a net exhibition area of 49,466 m2, 1,157 brands from 39 different Countries, 69 Exhibitors making their debut, 45,708 professional visitors, 12,853 of them from 114 foreign Countries, 2,104 accredited journalists. A success that will surely be confirmed and even improved upon by Eicma 2011, which will be held at the Rho Pero trade fair complex from 8 to 13 November. The indications we have been getting are extremely encouraging: major brands have already confirmed their presence and though it is only February the reservations received so far already cover 80% of the exhibition space taken up last year, which means that compared to the same period in 2010 registrations have increased by 37.5%. Moreover, it should be noted that among those who have registered 55 exhibitors are making a debut or a comeback. Some things have changed The logo of the Show: we have decided to change it in order to make it more immediate, more current. The website will be richer, faster and easier to consult. In addition to extensive information about Eicma (how to get to the Show, display and accreditation modalities, and so on), it will also contain press releases by the exhibitor companies, more photos and more videos, links to the best known social networks and even a web TV to enhance the visibility of our Exhibitors and the products on display. The Special Areas This year again, in order to represent the entire motorcycling world most effectively and give pride of place to fast growing sectors, we have decided to dedicate a number of Special Areas to specific sectors. • The Green Planet. The area reserved for hybrid and electric vehicles is evidence that the two-wheel world is taking action to protect the environment. The future of mobility, including two-wheel mobility, will be GREEN, so as to minimise pollution and to make use of alternative energy sources. Many Exhibitors have been working for years to develop new solutions along these lines and at Eicma we shall see the products already present on the market and many prototypes. • Two-Wheel Tourism. A unique opportunity for the Regions, Provinces, Local Boards and Tour Operators to present their "Two-Wheel" initiatives, proposals and tourist products to the over 500,000 visitors to the Show. Travelling by motorbike has a special appeal and many tourist boards and travel agencies have created ad hoc programs and routes. Eicma is the ideal showcase to illustrate these new vacation opportunities, and a place where we can meet those who have lived this experience and want to share it. • Custom Area. The most creative facet of motorcycling is on display in an exhibition area devoted to the world of “CUSTOM MADE” motorbikes, i.e., vehicles made-to-measure thanks to the unique skills of preparators, craftsmen, artists. The Custom sector is evolving fast and growing steadily, and at the moment it accounts for a hefty 10.7% share of the domestic market. Hence, it deserves to be showcased, even outside its traditional contexts. This prompted the idea of creating a special area within Eicma that would not only attract the aficionados of Custom bikes but would also awaken the interest of motorcycle fans in general. Unveiled in 2010, the Custom Area comes back as a protagonist, with plenty of innovative features. The first novelty is that the sale of exhibition space and the entire organisation of the area will be handled directly by Eicma. Special attention is being given to the issue of costs and promotional formulas have been defined to secure the involvement of the greatest possible number of specialist Exhibitors. A technical BIKE SHOW is also in the making, a contest for which we are thinking of having three juries: one technical, one "popular" and a “super jury”. • Safety Area. A space dedicated to those who work to make motorbike riding safer, especially in terms of infrastructures, tools, protective clothing. • MOTOLIVE. Not just a Special Area: MotoLive is one of the strong points of the Milan Show, with a dedicated outdoor area of 85,000 m2 set up with tracks for races, performances, test rides. To quote a few figures: 4,500 m3 of earth, 8 bleachers seating 4500 people, 100 "Arena" floodlights to illuminate the area, 5,500 m of barriers, 2,800 straw bales, 15,000 m2 paddock, 320 staff members. And then: 19 competitions - 4 of them international -, 24 stunt performances, 18 acrobatic trials performances, 18 Quad Freestyle performances, 20 Freestyle (MX Freestyle) performances, 4 Riding School and Test Ride circuits.
