FOOD TAIPEI MEGA SHOWS 2024 Concludes: Japan and U.S. Top Buyer List, Scale to Expand in 2026
2025/07/01 | By EDNThe 2024 FOOD TAIPEI MEGA SHOWS successfully concluded on June 28 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Halls 1 and 2. Bringing together five major themed exhibitions—Taipei International Food Show, Food Processing Machinery Show, Bio/Pharmatech Taiwan, Taipei Pack, and Taiwan HORECA—the event gathered 1,700 exhibitors from 33 countries across 4,500 booths, setting a new record in scale. The show attracted over 50,000 professional visitors, including nearly 4,500 international buyers from 83 countries, with Japan, the U.S., Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore topping the list of source countries.
This year’s exhibition focused on four major global trends: technological innovation, health concepts, sustainable development, and smart manufacturing. The event connected the entire food industry value chain—from ingredients, biotechnology, processing, and packaging to distribution and foodservice. In the Future Food zone, Taiwan First Biotechnology showcased patented hydrolyzed instant oat powder and high-protein oat drinks, drawing strong interest from distributors in the Middle East, Brazil, and Southeast Asia. Jin Ji Bao An, with a century of history in herbal and spice import and retail, engaged airline caterers and domestic and international distributors for collaboration. First-time exhibitor Song Yang Industry introduced 100% plastic-free high-barrier packaging, attracting active inquiries from Southeast Asian buyers. Zong Xing Company combined AI predictive analytics with smart production monitoring systems, greatly improving production efficiency and delivery accuracy, gaining favor with multiple international buyers and highlighting Taiwan’s strength in innovation and sustainability.
1,100+ B2B Meetings Drive Trade Opportunities
More than 1,100 business meetings were arranged during the show, including supply chain procurement meetings, food distributor purchasing conferences, and the “Halal Business Opportunity Day,” with 149 international buyers engaging in in-depth discussions with Taiwanese suppliers. TAITRA invited heavyweight international companies such as UK’s Fortnum & Mason, U.S. retail giant Kroger, UK’s largest online supermarket Ocado Retail, Canada’s T&T Supermarket, and Germany’s Asian food importer Kreyenhop & Kluge GmbH.
Taiwan Rice Fills Japan's Supply Gap
Due to climate-related shortages, Japan faces a significant rice supply challenge this year. Taiwan’s stable and nearby supply positions it as a strategic partner, opening new export opportunities and underscoring the potential for deeper cooperation in food security and economic ties.
British markets have shown growing enthusiasm for Taiwan’s bubble tea and mochi products, with exhibitors’ offerings becoming popular in UK retail channels. Singapore’s Sheng Siong supermarket chain secured deals for organic oat products and garlic butter spread during the show. French food industry professionals visited to source ingredients and machinery, emphasizing Taiwan’s pivotal role in Asia’s food industry and the exhibition’s value in building partnerships and understanding market trends.
