HIWIN Partners with Robotics Leader Dexterity to Tap Industrial and Warehouse Markets

2025/07/30 | By CENS

Global physical AI and robotics leader Dexterity announced yesterday (29) that it has formed a strategic partnership with Taiwan’s HIWIN Technologies. The two companies will jointly develop and mass-produce the world’s first AI-powered, high-performance industrial robot on Dexterity’s Mech platform, targeting industrial and warehouse applications worldwide.

First AI Industrial Robot to Be Mass-Produced in Taiwan

Industry experts note that this collaboration represents Taiwan’s first successful implementation of AI robotics technology for industrial use, with plans for large-scale production already in motion. The AI robot is designed for material handling, picking, and various factory tasks, positioning it as a key driver in the global shift toward smart manufacturing and AI-driven factory upgrades.

HIWIN Showcases Taiwan’s Robotics Strength

Mech is a mobile robot equipped with dual arms and purpose-built as a Physical AI solution for industrial environments. Leveraging its precision engineering expertise, HIWIN developed a lightweight, eight-axis robotic arm for Mech—further showcasing Taiwan’s strength in robotics innovation.

HIWIN Chairman & CEO Eddie W. H. Chuo (Ph.D.) stated that Mech has received excellent feedback during testing at a major U.S. logistics company. Mass production is expected to start by the end of this year, with gradual volume expansion to follow. He also projected that HIWIN’s robotics business revenue share could climb into double digits.

Optimized for Industrial and Warehouse Applications

HIWIN optimized the Mech arm’s strength-to-weight ratio, enabling easier deployment in warehouse operations while exceeding the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) single-person lifting limits. This collaboration strengthens Dexterity’s ability to scale production and deploy AI robots across North America, Asia, and Europe.

Dexterity highlighted that Mech’s mobile base allows it to navigate large industrial environments with ease, while its lightweight but powerful dual-arm design enables faster picking and packing performance compared to traditional manual operations.

Executive Statements

“Our partnership with HIWIN brings world-class manufacturing to Dexterity, allowing us to scale the production of advanced robots,” said Samir Menon, CEO of Dexterity. “Combining HIWIN’s precision engineering with Dexterity’s unique Physical AI technology, we are delivering the next generation of enterprise-grade industrial robots to customers across multiple industries.”

“Dexterity’s innovative Mech design and Physical AI capabilities provide transformative value to enterprises that previously struggled to adopt robotics,” Zhuo added. “Mech’s flexibility and intelligence deliver a competitive edge for sectors such as express delivery, ground logistics, retail, and e-commerce—where adaptability and real-world AI capabilities are essential.”

Breakthrough in Physical AI Automation

Dexterity’s Mech and its next-generation Physical AI platform officially debuted in March 2025, marking a major milestone in the evolution of physical AI automation technology.
