EMO Hannover 2025: 50th Anniversary Celebration of Innovation in Manufacturing

2025/08/28 | By CENS

EMO Hannover is one of the world’s most influential trade fairs for metalworking and production technology. The 2025 edition will take place from September 22 to 26 in Hannover, Germany, marking the 50th anniversary of the event. The first EMO was held in Paris in 1975, and since 1977 it has been alternately hosted by Hannover and Milan, becoming a vital platform for the global manufacturing industry to discover the latest technologies, establish partnerships, and negotiate business opportunities.

In 2023, the scale of the exhibition was slightly reduced due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and global economic uncertainty, yet it still featured around 1,850 exhibitors, with about 70% coming from 45 countries outside Germany. The event attracted approximately 92,000 professional visitors from 130 countries, with 54% of attendees traveling from abroad. Key visitor countries included Turkey, China, the Netherlands, Italy, and Poland, while nearly one-third of participants came from Asia. A notable share of first-time visitors highlighted the strong demand for in-person interaction in the post-pandemic era.

The U.S. International Trade Administration (ITA) projects that the 2025 edition will welcome about 2,000 exhibitors from more than 40 countries. Germany will remain the top exhibiting nation, followed by China, Taiwan, Italy, and Switzerland. According to the official “Focus Themes” released by the organizers, EMO Hannover 2025 will feature dedicated zones on:

• Digitalization & Artificial Intelligence – connected machinery, IoT applications, smart data analytics, and cloud-based solutions

• Automation – industrial robots, intelligent control systems, and factory-wide automation

• Sustainability – energy efficiency, circular economy practices, and green manufacturing solutions.

The exhibition period has been streamlined from six to five days (September 22–26) to meet exhibitor expectations for improved efficiency.

Based on historical data, EMO 2025 is expected to surpass the scale of 2023. In addition to nearly 2,000 exhibitors, German exhibition representatives note that the show enables companies to connect with over 120,000 global professionals. While the official audience figures have yet to be confirmed, the 2023 event drew 92,000 visitors—over half from overseas—suggesting that attendance in 2025 could exceed 100,000 trade professionals.

Leading global manufacturers such as Grob, DMG Mori, and Paul Horn have already confirmed their participation. For Taiwanese companies, EMO Hannover provides direct access to key markets including China, Europe, and North America. For example, in 2023, Turkey and China ranked among the top source countries for visitors.

As manufacturing advances toward intelligence, green technologies, and flexibility, EMO Hannover 2025 will serve as a crucial platform for tracking global machinery trends, identifying new partners, and expanding international markets.

In summary, EMO Hannover 2025 marks a half-century milestone as a premier global showcase for the future of smart manufacturing. Covering themes from automation and AI to sustainable development, this landmark event is essential for industry professionals planning technical exchanges, business development, or long-term strategies.
