Taiwan's Machine Tool Industry Shines at EMO Hannover 2025

2025/09/30 | By CENS

Over 120 Exhibitors Showcase AI and Smart Manufacturing, Attracting Strong Interest from Central and Eastern Europe

The 2025 EMO Hannover, the world’s leading machine tool exhibition, opened in Germany with nearly 2,000 exhibitors from more than 40 countries and an estimated 100,000 professional visitors. This year’s show highlights artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, and green transformation, reinforcing its role as a key barometer of the global manufacturing industry.

Despite a global market downturn that caused many major manufacturers to scale back or move to in-house demonstrations, Taiwan’s machine tool industry stood out. More than 120 Taiwanese companies joined the event, ranking fourth worldwide in exhibitor scale. Industry leaders including Taichung Precision Machinery, HIWIN, and Cheng Tai presented their latest AI-driven smart manufacturing solutions, drawing strong attention from European and especially Central and Eastern European buyers.

At the opening-day “AI × Taiwan Machine Tools” International Press Conference, TAITRA Chairman James Huang emphasized that while Taiwan is globally recognized for its semiconductor leadership, its machine tool sector has long supported worldwide manufacturing. By integrating AI, smart technologies, and automation, Taiwan aims to accelerate industrial upgrading and expand its role in global smart manufacturing.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs also underscored that Taiwan’s machine tool industry remains a vital pillar of the global supply chain. Vice Minister Wen-Jo Jiang personally visited the Taiwan Pavilion, meeting exhibitors, expressing appreciation for their dedication, and encouraging continued R&D innovation and international market expansion.

Beyond the exhibition, the “Taiwan Night” gala dinner fostered international networking. Officials noted that Europe’s manufacturing hub is gradually shifting toward Central and Eastern Europe, with rising demand from the automotive, aerospace, and Ukraine reconstruction sectors. Taiwanese companies are well positioned to seize these opportunities. Looking ahead, Taiwan will continue its strategy of being “rooted in Taiwan, positioned globally” to drive smart manufacturing and strengthen global linkages.
